Lawn Care vs. Lawn Service Companies

this entry has 0 Comments/ in Lawn Care / by BR Green

If you’re like many home and business owners, choosing the right type of company to service your lawn can be confusing. Many companies advertise as lawn service or lawn care, but offer the same services to all of their customers. Unfortunately, you may find that you’re receiving a quote from a company that does not completely focus on your initial needs as a customer. Are you looking for mowing, fertilization, weed control, sod installation, or lawn consulting? The results will greatly vary as many companies themselves do not understand the difference in terminology.

What is Lawn Care?

Lawn care, as an industry term, is the process of caring for the overall turf health and soil. If your needs entail fertilization, weed control, turf disease removal, turf disease management, or soil health, then lawn care is the type of company you should be looking for. Lawn care companies specialize in the creating of lush, green grass that is drought and disease resistant while maintaining curb appeal. Determining the right type of lawn care company can be tedious. Many companies offer services that include outdoor pest control, weed control, and fertilization, but introduce toxic chemicals as a quick fix. While chemlawn applications create a bright green appearance, it is not sustainable and will kill your grass and soil within a few years. The alternative to chemical lawn fertilization is organic. Organic lawn care supplements your soil with beneficial microorganisms, natural fertilizer sources, and organic matter.

What is Lawn Service?

Lawn service differs from lawn care in that a lawn service company maintains your lawn and landscape by mowing, edging, line trimming, and pruning. When searching for lawn service, you should expect to hire a company that maintains your landscape. In some cases, lawn service companies also perform lawn care services in addition to their regular work. However, the primary focus of their company is to mow lawns, prune shrubs, and trim trees. In order to perform lawn care, the company must be properly licensed in their state to apply fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides. Applying these products requires expert knowledge of the necessary amounts, regulations, and effects on your landscape.

Choosing a Lawn Care Company

When choosing to work with a lawn care company for your fertilization, weed control, and outdoor pest management programs should be clear: you want to work with an expert whose core business focus is lush, healthy turf and landscapes. Full service companies are not able to fully provide the best possible service and many operate illegally without a license. Be sure to ask the right questions before choosing a company as working with the wrong one can cause damage to your and your neighbors plant life. BR Green is a purely organic lawn care company that only uses Earth, Pet, and People Friendly products. We value beautiful lawns and the environment and pride ourselves on bringing the them together in a sustainable manner.
